‘English has always been my son's worst subject. Inconsistent is probably how I'd describe it. Prior to GCSE year, his 'tracking towards' GCSE predicted grade was 3-5. He managed to bump this up to a 6 in the first year, but then a bad mock exam knocked his confidence, and he felt he'd be lucky to get a 5.

This was when Alice was recommended to us, and my son knew from the get-go that she would be able to secure his grade.

Thanks to Alice's knowledge about how to answer the questions, my son exceeded everyone's expectations and secured a strong grade 8.

Online lessons were very convenient as there was no travel involved, and the screen sharing methods were as effective as an in person lesson.

Not only did she help him to secure a good grade, I also saw his confidence in the subject grow. Alice's kind and encouraging manner created a safe environment to make mistakes, learn and grow.

I would 100% recommend Alice as a tutor, and will be calling on her expertise for my younger son as well.’

‘Alice was the most amazing tutor for our son. He's smart but mildly dyslexic. He prefers listening to books rather than reading - and textual analysis in particular was tricky for him. Alice's help was transformational - it helped him to get out of a rowdy mixed set and into top set English, took him from a likely 5 to a 9 in his GCSEs and gave him skills that he's using now in A-Level History and RE.’

‘Thank you SO very much for the advice, guidance and confidence you’ve given Arthur over the past two years. Two 9s!!!! It’s an amazing result and you’ve been such an important part of the journey. You have had such a positive impact on Arthur’s life. Thank you!’

‘My grade initially was a B but after requesting a remark (I was 1 mark from an A), I successfully got an A! I am extremely happy about that and even thinking of reapplying to some UK universities I couldn't have before (Edinburgh, St Andrew's and even Cambridge)

Thank you so much for everything, you instilled a lot of confidence in my ability to write. I hope we can stay in touch!’

‘I’m pleased to share that Adi did very well in both his Eng Language and Literature GCSE exams, achieving a grade 9 in both.

We are deeply grateful for your support in the last couple of years. Your time and effort have been invaluable to us.’

‘Thank you for, (honestly!), being the best English teacher I’ve ever had. There would have been no way I would have done remotely well on my A-Levels without you. I have never had a teacher who pushed their students to do their best as you have and for that I am thankful (and I’m sure our entire class is as well!)’

‘I just wanted to thank you for being such an incredible teacher throughout my time during the IB. I loved English and always looked forward to the lessons! I was very lucky to have you as a teacher and will really miss English once I leave. The ‘Paradise Lost’ and T. S. Eliot sessions you allowed me to attend, even though I wasn’t really an English Oxbridge candidate, were absolutely wonderful!’

‘I know that Seb told you his mock results on Tues. I just wanted to say thank you from us.  He has gone from a 5 and a 7 in the summer to an 8 and a 9 in December. A huge jump.

You have made a huge difference - thank you very much.’

‘Thank you so much for all the time and effort you have put into helping me be the best I can be for the past 2 years, both in terms of exams and coursework, and also our work and discussions outside the syllabus. Your passion for English has continued to inspire me and I strive to be as knowledgeable and passionate as you.’

‘Dr Reeve-Tucker played an instrumental role in my securing over 90% in Higher Level IB English Literature.

I was struggling immensely without guidance about exam technique across both papers and with navigating several dense texts for Paper 2. She was incredibly attentive and helped me draw insightful comparisons across materials.

She was great at striking a balance between “playing the examiner’s game” so to speak, while keeping my interest in the subject alive through her insightful and thought-provoking ways of analysing texts, which enabled me to refine my skills and express my ideas more pithily and eloquently.’

‘I wanted to let you know that I did well in English and averaged 79%; a mark off a 7 - a lot higher than I expected to get. I have no doubt your help on my HL and IO were absolutely fundamental parts of the score. Thank you so much for your help - it was fantastic.’

‘I got a 7 at IB SL English and 41 points in total. I am very grateful for all your help and support.

I was admitted at Imperial college London, but I think that I will choose to study Aerospace Engineering in the Netherlands.

I enjoyed all the sessions with you, thank you very, very much!!’

‘Alice is a wonderful tutor. She is very organised and prepares each lesson very well with her original material. My son had not been keen on GSCE English literature before he started lessons with Alice, however, we can already see a lot of progress in his positive attitude towards and understanding of English literature after only four productive lessons! We highly recommend Alice for students who would like to quickly move forward in English!’

‘Thank you for all of your help and guidance over the last two years. I am sure that the reason I got such a high grade was down to your constant support and enthusiasm for your subject, which made your lessons so enjoyable.’

‘Thank you so much for being such an amazing teacher! Your passion for literature has really inspired me to continue the subject for A-Level and maybe even after that!’
